Accessing your health records from our Patient Portal

If you have access to our Patient Portal on VicKey, you can choose to view clinical documents about your care at Austin Health.

How to access your health records

We have an opt-in system that gives you control over whether your health records are added to our Patient Portal on VicKey

To give consent to add your health records to your Austin Health profile on VicKey you will need to:

  • sign in to your VicKey account
  • access your Austin Health patient profile
  • visit the Health records section

You can withdraw your consent at any time or opt back in if you have previously opted out.

What we upload to our secure Patient Portal

We only upload information about your care at Austin Health to our Patient Portal. 

Health information you can view

We upload the following reports to your patient profile within our Patient Portal:

Record type

 Access delay

Pathology results

There is a 7-day delay before a pathology result is uploaded to our Patient Portal. 

However, for some pathology results (including anatomical pathology, cytopathology, and genetic tests) there is a 12-day delay.

Diagnostic imaging reports There is a 14-day delay before a diagnostic imaging report is uploaded to our Patient Portal. 
Endoscopy reports There is a 14-day delay before a endoscopy report is uploaded to our Patient Portal. 

Access delays

For some types of records there is a delay between when a report is uploaded to our Patient Portal and when you can access it. This allows time for your clinician to review and discuss the results with you.

These reports are also sent to your profile on My Health Record with the same access delays.

Other health information

Other health information, for example discharge summaries, are not available in our Patient Portal yet. To access other types of records you will need to visit My Health Record.

Missing or incorrect information

If you find incorrect or missing information in your health records, you can ask for the record to be amended. For more information, see Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

Accessing health records from other healthcare providers

Our Patient Portal doesn't include your health records from other hospitals or other types of healthcare providers.

To access clinical documents about your care at other healthcare providers, visit My Health Record. If the information is not available in My Health Record, contact your healthcare provider directly.
