Kidney care & dialysis

Epping Dialysis Unit

We are a community-based dialysis unit for people who are well and can safely have dialysis away from hospital.

About us

Epping Dialysis Unit (EDU) is a community service (not in the hospital).

Our service is for people who need dialysis, are well and can therefore safely have their treatment away from the hospital. This is a much less stressful environment for long-term dialysis.

EDU has 16 dialysis chairs.

Facilities

We have the following facilities available:

  • Shared TVs, so bring your own headphones
  • Patient lockers

What to bring

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided for morning and afternoon tea.

When you come for dialysis, you should bring:

  • Comfortable day clothes
  • Warm socks, sweatshirt or jumper in case you get cold during treatment
  • Book, magazine or an iPad/tablet with headphones
  • If you have a graft or fistula in your arm, make sure your sleeves are loose enough to roll up
  • If you have a catheter in your chest, wear a shirt that opens in the front
  • Any tablets you need to take during dialysis
  • Something to eat (if you need to)
