About the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology

We provide assessment, diagnosis and management of infectious diseases and conditions affecting the immune system. 

We work closely with the Departments of Microbiology and Infection Prevention and Control to deliver coordinated care.

We are home to the Check Again Network, a statewide program for penicillin allergy assessment. We also work with:

• Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Victoria
• University of Melbourne including the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity
• Centre for Antibiotic Allergy and Research (CAAR)

  We diagnose and treat infectious diseases, including complex and hospital-based infections.

• Immunology

  We diagnose and treat conditions affecting the immune system, including allergies and immunodeficiency.

We are involved in research to improve understanding and treatment of infectious diseases and immune system conditions.
