How to apply - Graduate Nurse Program

Follow the steps below to complete your Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) ‘Match’ application.

Austin Health participates in the PMCV Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Program (GNMP) ‘Match’, for the following streams:

  • General stream
  • Mental health stream

Application dates

Applications for 2027 Graduate Nurse Program at Austin Health will open on Monday 1 June 2026 and close Wednesday 1 July 2026.

Step 1

Apply via the ‘Match’ Process for the GNMP

  1. Ensure you read and meet the PMCV requirements for the GNMP ‘Match’ process
  2. Register and apply to PMCV GNMP ‘Match’
  3. Include Austin Health (you can select multiple Austin Health streams) in your PMCV GNMP preference list.

Step 2

Apply to Austin Health

Applications are now open and close on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at 5pm.

Our application requirements are outlined below:

  • Fill in your details
  • Include PMCV Number
  • Your Visa details if applicable
  • Statements about Austin Health
Resume/CV 
  • No more than two pages
  • Include table of placements detailing where the placement took place, dates of placement, clinical hours completed and specialty
  • Include two clinical referees
Academic transcript
  • Most up to date (even if subjects are still pending)
  • Must be an official academic transcript issued by your university, including an official university seal or electronic certification (i.e. eQuals)
  • Statement of results/ unofficial academic transcripts will not be accepted
  • Include marking key
Clinical or placement appraisal or ANSAT Tool - 1 
  • Includes full appraisal tool, including cover page (if applicable), time sheet/total hours completed and any absences, formative and summative rubric and comments and any student reflections
  • Type of placement appraisal: for all streams, please supply most recent acute placement
Clinical or placement appraisal or ANSAT Tool - 2 
  • Includes full appraisal tool, including cover page (if applicable), time sheet/total hours completed and any absences, formative and summative rubric and comments and any student reflections
  • Type of placement appraisal dependent on the stream you are applying for


General stream

  • Acute or subacute or specialty placement (only submit a mental health placement if you have not completed any other placement)

Mental health stream

  • Mental health placement (if mental health placement is not yet completed - see below)
  • Acute or subacute or specialty placement (only if mental health placement is not yet completed)
