About us

The Radiology Department provides a service at both the Austin and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospitals.

Our services are available to patients of Austin Health and the surrounding community.

Our services

We provide the following services:

• General x-rays
• Dental x-rays
• Ultrasounds
• MRI (medical resonance imaging) scans, which use a magnetic field and radio waves to take pictures inside your body
• CT (computed tomography) scans, which combine x-rays with digital tecchnology to create 2D and 3D images of the inside of your body
• Fluroscopy scans, a type of x-ray that shows a moving image of how your body is functioning
• Interventional radiology (surgical procedures performed with image guidance)
• Mammograms for diagnosis
• Research trials

We do not provide screening mammograms. To have a screening mammogram, visit the BreastScreen Victoria website.

  We perform scans to see how strong your bones are.

  We take medical images of the inside of your body to show how your organs and tissues are working.

For patients

You need a referral from your GP, specialist or health care provider to access this service.

Refer your patient using the request form below. If you would like a supply of request pads, email enquiries.radiology@austin.org.au

We provide electronic results to GPs via Healthlink, a secured method of distribution.
