We take pictures of the inside of your body to help your doctor work out what is wrong and how to treat you.
About us
The Radiology Department provides a service at both the Austin and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospitals.
Our services are available to patients of Austin Health and the surrounding community.
Our services
We provide the following services:
- General x-rays
- Dental x-rays
- Ultrasounds
- MRI (medical resonance imaging) scans, which use a magnetic field and radio waves to take pictures inside your body
- CT (computed tomography) scans, which combine x-rays with digital tecchnology to create 2D and 3D images of the inside of your body
- Fluroscopy scans, a type of x-ray that shows a moving image of how your body is functioning
- Interventional radiology (surgical procedures performed with image guidance)
- Mammograms for diagnosis
- Research trials
We do not provide screening mammograms. To have a screening mammogram, visit the BreastScreen Victoria website.

You need a referral from your GP, specialist or health care provider to access this service.
For health professionals
Refer your patient using the request form below. If you would like a supply of request pads, email enquiries.radiology@austin.org.au
We provide electronic results to GPs via Healthlink, a secured method of distribution.
