The Executive

Our Executive is responsible for operational decisions, strategic direction and reviewing performance.

Chief Executive Officer (Interim)

Cameron Goodyear

Cameron Goodyear

Cameron was appointed to Chief Executive Officer (Interim) in August 2024.

Prior to this, Cameron was the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Austin Health since February 2021.

Cameron has extensive executive-level experience in public health.

In 2018 he joined St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne as Executive Director Acute Services with accountability for acute programs including Surgical Services, Specialty Services and Medical & Emergency Services, as well as Access & Demand management and Radiology & Medical Imaging.

Prior to this Cameron worked at Austin Health for 22 years, most recently as Executive Director of Clinical Operations & Imaging Services where he had oversight of three acute divisions (Surgery & Procedural Medicine, Cancer & Neurosciences, and Radiology & Medical Imaging).

Cameron has a passion for engaging and supporting teams to deliver exceptional performance outcomes, and a strong commitment to safety and quality, building leadership capability and driving clinical engagement.

A qualified nurse, he has postgraduate qualifications including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Robynne Cooke

Robynne Cooke

Robynne has an extensive career across health services as a senior executive in both NSW and Victoria.

Robynne is experienced in governance, risk management and strategic planning and has a passion for improving the clinical care of our consumers and improving the patient experience.

Chief Allied Health Officer

Brit Gordon

Brit Gordon

Brit joined Austin Health in January 2018 as Chief Allied Health Officer, following more than 20 years in the health sector. Brit previously worked at Epworth HealthCare in departmental manager, business development and strategy roles and as Allied Health Manager for Epworth Rehabilitation. Brit has spent most of her clinical career in the public sector and has a strong background in advanced scope of practice. Brit has been involved in state-wide Department of Health projects and is inspired by innovation and contemporary service models that deliver a true patient-focused perspective. Brit's qualifications include a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and a Masters of Business Administration.

Chief Medical Officer

Prof Mary O’Reilly

Professor Mary O'Reilly

Mary was appointed as Chief Medical Officer in June 2022.

Mary has extensive experience in the public health sector having joined Austin Health as Medical Director, Patient Safety and Clinical Excellence/Deputy Chief Medical Officer in May 2018 after holding positions at Eastern Health, including Executive Director Ambulatory Care and Director of Infectious Diseases and Infection Control. Mary continues to have committee membership in both Government and the not-for-profit sector, at both State and National level, related to Quality, Medication Safety, Ambulatory and Aged Care.

Mary has a strong track record in translational research and holds an appointment as Adjunct Clinical Professor with Monash University.

An Infectious Diseases Physician by background Mary has also completed her Fellowship in Medical Administration (FRACMA) and Master of Public Health (MPH).

She is deeply committed to improving public health and has built her career through a combination of clinical practice, patient safety and quality care, translational research, post graduate study and publishing. Mary is strongly supportive of clinician engagement to enhance patient care.

Chief Nursing Officer

Bernadette Twomey

Bernadette Twomey

Bernadette joined Austin Health as Chief Nursing Officer in November 2017. Bernadette has held a number of senior executive roles in Australia and New Zealand. She has successfully led large transformational change in the health sector and promotes standardisation of practice to deliver quality, improve safety and minimise risk. Her research interests focus on the role of nursing in improving health outcomes and she has published on advanced nursing practice. Bernadette is an authorised Victorian Nurse Immuniser, a member of the Australian College of Nursing, Victorian Metropolitan EDONs, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and a Board Member of YSAS.

Ray Van Kuyk

Ray Van Kuyk

Ray joined Austin Health as Chief Information and Services Officer in June 2017 bringing more than 25 years of industry leadership in program and service delivery across a range of sectors. Ray is responsible for leading Austin Health's direction and approach in the areas of technology, program delivery, capital works and related support services including commercial, security and facilities management. He is also responsible for developing long-term strategic approaches to our infrastructure and business support needs.Ray has held Deputy Secretary roles in both Queensland and Victoria where he was responsible for transport and technology program and service delivery. With a focus on customers, innovation, improved operational efficiency and program execution, Ray has delivered significant operational improvements and iconic infrastructure projects across both states. Ray has also held senior executive roles at Serco, Swinburne University and Fujitsu, leading operations, service and program delivery and strengthening the alignment of business with technology to drive growth and derive enhanced productivity and efficiency.
