About the initiative
The Regional Outcome Review Initiative (RORI) is an ambitious project bringing together stakeholders from mental health, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), and suicide prevention services. It has demonstrated proof of concept with notable engagement and positive feedback. Within two years it has moved from initiative to business as usual within our region.
Informed by the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and shaped by the stories and experience of people with lived and living experience, we promote collaboration, integration, and continuous learning. By harnessing the power of joint reviews, collective learning forums, and a panel pool of experts, we work together to drive improvements in service delivery, ultimately enhancing the quality of care and support to those we serve.
Initially set up for mental health, AOD, and suicide prevention services in the north-east and eastern regions of metropolitan Melbourne, RORI can be applied to other health settings and regions.
Toolkits and resources are provided as a road map for you to implement the RORI actions in your organisation.
Lived experience statement
“The Regional Outcome Review Initiative is a long-awaited development in the sector and one which we anticipate will be applauded by consumers, families and carers. It is a remarkable step forward in local mental health reform, providing a very real opportunity to build consumer and family confidence in the system. RORI can help people get the answers and the follow-ups they deserve from services. When this happens, service collaboration and integration become a reality, and the whole system improves."
