Our Neurological Rehabilitation team at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre provides a comprehensive service for people who have been diagnosed with conditions such as:

• Stroke
• Brain or spinal tumours
• Multiple sclerosis
• Guillian Barre Syndrome
• Other neurological disorders

Our programs are aimed at improving physical, communication, thinking, emotional, social and independence skills.

Our services

We care for and support patients with common tasks such as:

• Walking
• Balance
• Showering and dressing
• Finance
• Emotions
• Speech
• Reading
• Writing
• Memory
• Swallowing

We also support patients to return to:

• Driving
• Community activities
• School
• Work
• Leisure pursuits

We carry out home assessments as required, to ensure the patient's home environment is safe for them to return home.

Our Neurological Rehabilitation team includes highly skilled staff:

• Orthoptist

• Leisure & creative therapists

This team meets regularly to ensure that an effective program is maintained with each patient on the ward. They meet with the patient with their family or carers in family meetings when needed.

• Gym, staffed by a rehabilitation physical educator
• Hydrotherapy pool
• Driver assessment service
• Equipment to encourage independence with functional activities
