Pharmacy residency programs

We offer both Advancing Practice (AdPha) and non-AdPha stream residency programs, designed to support clinical pharmacists at the beginning of their career.

About our programs

The overall aims of these programs are to provide excellent post-registration training in the knowledge, skills and attitudes of a clinical pharmacist. The programs aim to ensure the highest possible quality of patient care by focusing on the safe, appropriate, economical and evidence-based use of medicine. These programs are ideal for newly registered pharmacists or those transitioning into hospital clinical practice.

As a resident, you’ll be provided with a structured, formalised, supported and accredited national program and benefit from hands-on experience across a wide spectrum of clinical and operational areas. Each rotation will be overseen by an experienced preceptor and a variety of clinical assessment tools will be utilised to inform ongoing learning goals.

In addition, residents will be given the opportunity to be involved with committees across the organisation, and the provision of educational activities within and external to the department.

The programs aim to provide a solid foundation that will equip new pharmacists to progress to an advanced practice.
