We are excited to share our Research Strategy 2023-27!
At Austin Health, research is embedded into how we deliver clinical care. It is an essential part of what allows us to provide outstanding patient care across a broad range of specialties and community medicine.
Research is fundamental to helping us advance the treatment we can provide, and our Research Strategy directly aligns with our guiding principle ‘Research activities that improve patient outcomes.’
Professor James Best, Director Research says, “Research is a fundamental part of delivering on our strategic outcomes and achieving the purpose and vision of Austin Health. Our Research Strategy not only supports our commitment to our purpose of ‘Helping people live healthy, productive and fulfilled lives,’ but also aligns with our vision of ‘Shaping the future through exceptional care, discovery and learning’.”
“The goal of research in a healthcare setting is to improve patient care. Our Research Strategy includes 12 Strategic Action Points that will collectively support an enhanced contribution to improved patient care through research,” he adds.
Austin Health has an extensive record of world class research achievements in areas such as epilepsy, stroke, dementia, diabetes, obesity, organ transplantation, critical care medicine, metabolic bone disease, infectious diseases, respiratory medicine, cancer and haematology medicine, mental health and more. Our accomplishments underscore our dedication to pushing the boundaries of medical knowledge and practice.
Our Research Strategy is built on three key pillars:
- Excellence: Organisation wide integration of research activity to build team research
- Partnership: Leveraging and enhancing internal and external interactions
- Infrastructure: Strengthening research support
Our Research Strategy aims to seamlessly integrate research activities throughout the organisation, foster collaborations both internally and externally, and fortify our research support infrastructure.
The launch of our Research Strategy 2023-27 marks a significant milestone for our organisation as we continue to strengthen our research culture, and advance healthcare through innovative research initiatives.
