- Austin Health launches inaugural Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy 2025–2027
25 November 2025
We’re proud to unveil Austin Health’s inaugural Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy 2025-2027 — an initiative that reflects our commitment to shaping a healthier, more sustainable future for our patients, staff, community and planet. This strategy reinforces our belief that individuals, organisations and governments have a responsibility to ensure a sustainable, equitable and ethical future.
The ESG Strategy builds on our legacy of care and innovation, aligning with our Strategic Plan 2023–2027 and our commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2040.
Developed through extensive consultation with staff, patients, and stakeholders, the strategy builds upon work we have already undertaken and lays out a comprehensive set of goals for the next three years.
The strategy is comprised of three interconnected pillars:
- Environmental: Embedding climate resilience and sustainability into our core business, expanding solar infrastructure, and designing low-impact, high-value care models.
- Social: Deepening our commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural safety — especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities — while amplifying diverse voices and fostering a safe, inclusive workplace.
- Governance: Strengthening data governance, ethical oversight, and transparency to ensure our ESG goals are implemented with integrity and accountability.
Our ESG Strategy 2025-27 will support us to set measurable goals, clear implementation plans, and robust reporting mechanisms to track progress and celebrate achievements. It is action-oriented and serves as a rallying cry for our health service to continue pushing forward in these important areas, all of which support our purpose of helping people live healthy, productive and fulfilled lives.
