About us

Hospital Mental Health will see you if you are:

• A current patient in any ward at Austin Health (excluding the psychiatric units)
• A patient with ongoing treatment provided by Austin Health

Hospital Mental Health care is provided by Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.

Our services

Our Consultation Liaison Psychiatry team provide the following services:

• Assessment and management of your mental health while you are in a medical or surgical ward
• Advice to medical and surgical teams about your mental health needs

Our clinics

We run the following clinic:

• Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic - offered for patients who are able to be treated in a community setting

Related services

• Drug and alcohol service

  We care for and treat people with substance use disorders.

• Eating disorders

  We provide inpatient care and treatment people with severe eating disorders.

Referrals

You can be referred to us from all medical, surgical, rehabilitation and specialty units across Austin Health. All referrals are made through Cerner.

The most common referrals are for:

• Depression and anxiety
• Delirium
• Symptoms such as pain or fatigue that have no clear physical cause
