About us

Our adult mental health services provide assessment and treatment to people from Banyule and Nillumbik.

We can care for you within a range of settings: our emergency department, in mental health wards, in residential community settings and within our community clinic. In some cases, we will come to your home.

You will be cared for in in the least restrictive setting that is safe for you. Our focus is on helping you to meet your goals for recoving from your illness.

We are proud of the strong involvement that our consumers have in the way that we provide care.

Our mental health triage service is the first point of contact for all of our services. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for information, assessement and referral.

Inpatient services

• Acute adult psychiatry

  We care for and treat people with a psychiatric disorder who need specialist support and treatment, with a strong focus on recovery.

• Eating disorders

  We provide inpatient care and treatment people with severe eating disorders.

• Parent infant mental health

  We care for and treat parents with a mental illness and their infants up to 12 months of age.

• Secure extended care

  We care for and treat people with complex mental illness who need an extended period of treatment in a secure environment.

Community-based residential services

These services provide short to medium term accommodation and care to people in a home-like setting.

• Community recovery program

  We provide accommodation and rehabilitation for people with a long-term psychiatric disability.

• Prevention & recovery care service

  We provide a short-term care for people with mental illness who need some additional support but do not need to go to hospital.

• Transition support unit

  We support people with mental illness and cognitive or intellectual disability to improve their living skills so that they can lead the life they want.

  We provide assessment to people with mental health issues who are not in crisis.

  We care for and treat young people experiencing their first episode of psychosis.

• Mobile outreach

  We provide a mobile outreach service to people living with a mental illness who need intensive community support.

• Support for people at risk of suicide (HOPE)

  We provide support for people who are experiencing suicidal ideas and/or after a suicide attempt.
