For prospective interns
Our Intern Training Programs, which are designed to improve core competence and confidence in a range of patient care scenarios, address clinical, medical, interpersonal and ethical dilemmas faced by new staff.
The program includes:
- three-day interactive orientation program
- weekly interactive education series (addressing a range of medical, clinical, customer service and career-based topics)
- surgical training (including workshops to assist interns re: applying for entry to basic surgical training program)
- general practice training (including workshops to assist interns re: applying for entry to general practice training program)
- Basic Life Support training
- careers information nights
- unit handbooks to assist transition between clinical units
- formal feedback, evaluation and assessment process
For prospective HMOs & registrars
Our Hospital Medical Officer (HMO) Training Program is designed to complement basic core training and instil confidence in techniques and procedures learned during their first year.
The program offers:
- half-day orientation program for new HMOs and registrars
- weekly interactive education sessions run by specialist consultants
- basic surgical training - weekend workshops (laparoscopy, bowel anastomosis, plastic and thoracic surgery techniques, exam preparation and mock interviews) & weekly tutorials for surgical trainees
- general practice training - workshops (asthma, paediatrics, ophthalmology, diabetics, sports medicine)
- physician training – tutorial education sessions
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support training for designated rotations
- unit handbooks to assist transition between clinical units
- leadership programs
- Train The Trainer – for registrars and senior clinicians
