About us

The HMO Society offers advocacy and representation for junior medical staff along with a range of education programs, social events and wellbeing initiatives.

Advocacy and representation

We collaborate closely with the cohort of junior doctors, listening to your feedback and concerns.
We work closely with medical executives and the medical workforce to escalate concerns and drive positive changes to work practices and environment.
We run regular Junior Medical Advisory Forum (JMAF) meetings - an open forum to raise concerns and give feedback.

Education

We run an intern/HMO to consultant mentoring program: Coffee with the Consultants.
We work to improve intern and HMO education.

Social events

We offer social events including:

5 x end of term drinks for all junior doctors
other social events such as the annual Austin Health Ball, cocktail nights, and much more …

Wellbeing

Our wellbeing initiatives include:

maintaining residents quarters
providing lunches and weekly bubble tea

Membership

The HMO Society is open to junior medical staff at Austin Health.

The membership fee is $15 a fortnight.

It's the best value hospital membership in Victoria! The fee include a weekly lunch and bubble tea.

How to join

There are two steps you need to take to join the HMO Society.

1. Complete the payroll deduction authorisation form

You will need to complete the payroll deduction authorisation form:

Email your completed form to to payroll at hrsolutions@austin.org.au with the subject heading 'Renewed Registration - HMO Society Deduction Form'.

2. Confirm your registration

Complete our online form to confirm your HMO Society registration.

Collection notice

The Austin HMO Society will collect information such as your email address and staff number. We collect this information in order to:

Maintain an active membership base for the Austin HMO Society
Distribute newsletters and announcements of internal events hosted by the Austin HMO Society

We will not share your information without your consent outside of Austin Health. If you choose not to provide your contact email, we will not be able to process your membership.
